class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0"&gt;Down&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; consiste em alterações genéticas, em que há a presença de um cromossoma a mais no cromossoma 21. Na genética este fenómeno é conhecido como &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1"&gt;trissomia&lt;/span&gt;. O médico que descreveu esta doença genética foi o britânico John &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2"&gt;Langdon&lt;/span&gt; &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3"&gt;Haydon&lt;/span&gt; &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4"&gt;Down&lt;/span&gt;. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:arial;"&gt;Os portadores desta doença possuem dificuldades na aprendizagem e incapacidade física bastante variáveis. Uma delas é o seu &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5"&gt;QI&lt;/span&gt;, que raramente é superior a 60. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:arial;"&gt;Esta deficiência é uma das mais comuns dentro da genética. Um dos factores que mais influenciam esta síndrome é a idade da mãe. Estima-se que afecta um de cada 8 milhões de recém-nascidos. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:arial;"&gt;A forma mais severa desta doença é a chamada síndrome de Hutchinson-Gilford nomeada assim em honra de Jonathan Hutchinson, que foi o primeiro a descrever a doença em 1886 e Hastings Gilford que foi quem realizou diferentes estudos a respeito de seu desenvolvimento e características em 1904. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:arial;"&gt;Esta doença é causada por morte celular precoce ou pela perda progressiva e acelerada das extremidades dos telômeros célula que influencia o envelhecimento qual quer uma destas causas é de natureza genética. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:arial;"&gt;Em Portugal existe só um caso de progeria cuja portadora da doença é uma menina de 9 anos, no mundo existem apenas 40 pessoas portadoras desta doença. consiste em retirar os genes de uma cadeia de ADN, introduzindo no seu lugar novos genes. Uma pequena percentagem introduz-se no ADN. A partir daqui temos um novo organismo geneticamente modificado, que se irá reproduzir as características adquiridas.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:arial;"&gt;Esta manipulação pode ser feita em:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:arial;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:arial;"&gt;Células de plantas e em alimentos&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:arial;"&gt;Há muito que se produz e se consome alimentos geneticamente modificados, os transgénicos (milho, arroz, soja, morangos, etc.).
